Kathy Rodriguez

Kathy Rodriguez, also known as the Joyful Purpose Yogi, is a Seattle-based fitness instructor with a passion for making movement accessible to everybody. With certifications in Yoga, Yoga Wheel, HIIT & Flow, and Swim Instruction, as well as being an Empowerment Life Coach with a BS Degree in Biology, Kathy brings a holistic approach to her teaching.

Believing that movement is for everyone, Kathy specializes in Yoga, HIIT & Flow, and running/walking, encouraging individuals to care for their entire selves—body, mind, and spirit. Her philosophy revolves around embracing variations and modifications, making fitness a daily and joyous priority. Kathy's overarching life philosophy is to live fully, with adventure, joy, love, and gratitude, emphasizing the importance of learning and growth.

Kathy, a natural teacher, has been guiding people on their wellness journeys for 18 years. As a swim instructor, she transitioned into yoga and HIIT & Flow during the COVID pandemic, driven by her personal experiences after breaking her leg and discovering the transformative power of yoga.

Her heroes include her father, who prioritized family amidst a busy life, and her grandmother, a trailblazer who showed her how to be strong and believe in herSELF. Kathy's childhood love for swimming and surfing has evolved into a love for various activities, including running, walking, hiking, and yoga. She finds joy in all forms of movement.

Kathy's message to those starting a wellness journey is to embrace new experiences, take it day by day, and avoid comparisons. For those feeling stuck or unmotivated, she encourages reaching out to the community for support. Her personal goal is to expand her growth and travel to Bali.

Time management and self-prioritization are Kathy's ongoing challenges. She acknowledges the continuous journey of self-acceptance and overcoming comparison and distinguishes herself in the field by obtaining her yoga certification at 56 and advocating for a shame-free space in her classes. Kathy's signature moves involve empowering poses like Tree and Crow, symbolizing strength and power.

Kathy enjoys being a part of each individual's wellness journey, bringing her multi-passionate, multi-dimensional self to every class. She emphasizes the importance of joy, laughter, and fun in movement and encourages everyone to join her in making life vibrant and full of purpose.

Her go-to pump-up song is "Let's Get Loud" by JLo, and for self-care, Kathy finds solace in walking, practicing yoga, and meditating in nature, grounding herself near water whenever possible.
